February 17, 2025, Peter Kyle, the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Technology, visited the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC) in Riyadh. His visit highlighted the hospital's pioneering advancements in specialized healthcare, particularly in cardiac care and robotic-assisted surgery.
Breakthroughs in Cardiac Care and Robotic Surgery
During his tour of the Heart Center of Excellence, Kyle observed state-of-the-art technologies that have positioned KFSHRC as a leader in cardiac care. He was welcomed by Dr. Hani Al-Sergani, the center’s executive director, and Prof. Feras Khaliel, his deputy. The minister met with the medical team behind the world’s first fully robotic heart transplant, a groundbreaking achievement led by Prof. Khaliel.
Kyle expressed his admiration for KFSHRC’s commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care. He also reviewed the hospital’s advancements in minimally invasive organ transplantation, which significantly reduce surgical risks and improve recovery times for patients.
